Child Abuse and Neglect - March and April 2010
Nearly four children die from child abuse and neglect every day, and the impact on individuals victimized by child abuse is profound. Mental and emotional difficulties experienced by children who have been abused include: low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, psychiatric disorders, and suicide attempts.
That is why this April, in honor of Child Abuse Awareness Month, we are supporting Safe Horizons Hope Shining campaign, a breakthrough, national initiative to increase awareness, prevention, and support services for children, families, and communities impacted by violence and abuse.

Women and Heart Disease - January and February 2010
The American Heart Association (AHA) faced a challenge. Cardiovascular disease claimed the lives of nearly 500,000 American women each year, yet women were not paying attention. In fact, many even dismissed it as an older mans disease. To dispel the myths and raise awareness of heart disease as the number one killer of women, the American Heart Association created Go Red For Women a passionate, emotional, social initiative designed to empower women to take charge of their heart health.
